Lily responded, in perfect cadence, "Wash your hair!"
Yep.
And when I told Russ about, he didn't believe me.
So, I told Lils to tell Papa about washing her hair and she told him to wash his hair, which she then proceeded to do for him (he was sitting on the floor).
She is so silly.

I have sadly neglected this journal.
Lily has about 600 signs and 200 words.
She can communicate entirely proficiently.
She uses single word, dual, triple, and is just starting to put 4 words together in sentence form.
She does not ever struggle to communicate because she can sign what she can't say or vice versa.
She repeats everything and her language mimicry has become almost perfect in a lot of cases.

Well, anything really that you say, she says.
Shoes, socks, clothes, pajamas (which sounds more like bananas)

This past week Lily has demonstrated her understanding of the possessive. She now will indicate if something is Mama's, Papa's, Lily's, or the Doggy's.
She can move her "Horsie" all over the house.
She can climb her slide and dago and the couch, and well, everything.
She is making three and four word sentences now, and signs 2-3 word phrases.
She also has started to recognize words.
She knows that L I L Y spells Lily... Mama and Papa can be either spelled verbally or on paper and she knows what the words/letters say. And if you show her the word dog or hat, she can recognize the words.
She knows all her letters, is working on numbers and shapes, and knows all her colors. She is learning her letter sounds very quickly.
AND, she loves Horton!! He's an "eh ant".

Just now Cecily demonstrated that she knows about numbers!! Earlier today we were discussing the fact that she had "TWO" pillows and just now, she picked up two of her little ponies and started to explain that she had "two horsies".
So, I think it is safe to say that she now knows all about pairs!

Cecily's Latest
Of course, BAP reigns supreme.
Bike
Book
Nuh!!! (Savannah)
La or "eugh" is London (the latter being London's bark back at her)
Ahduh (accompanied by the sign for All Done)
She is signing for:
More
All Done
Thanks
Water (sorta)
She recognizes the signs for:
Ball
Water
More
All Done
Come
Want
Eat/Mom
She is running around rather steadily and catches herself when she suddenly goes off balance quite well.
She sings along with her piano and with any music she hears on the tv.
She loves teletubbies still - that show elicits such giggles!
She enjoys T'choupi and random other shows like Sid, Science Kid.
She prefers to eat the book than have it read to her.
She is daily using her little throne... She doesn't tell me when she has to go but when I sit her down, she reads her book or plays with a block and then suddenly starts to giggle or smile as she pees. She knows what's going on; she will sign "all done" when she stops and then proceeds to get up from the little pot with a triumphant grin.
She claps and is starting to blow kisses..
She can successfully navigate the stairs, up and down now, without help. She usually uses the railing but she can do it crawling only too. She prefers to "step" down and "crawl" up.
A
She knows what schedule to expect people to come and go during the day and will order her own schedule to accommodate.
She is eating anything we give her, especially if it comes from my mouth (literally). Russ calls her a little bird and is thankful I don't regurgitate the food before giving it to her.
She will be one in about 10 days, well, 9 to be exact. Weird.
Before long, with her affinity for my keyboard, she'll be writing these journal entries.

I need to do a new photo shoot. Need a better camera...
One that takes more than one picture every 30 seconds.
Cecily started walking on Sept 3, while I was giving a piano lesson. She and daddy were playing and she took her first reliable steps without freaking out as soon as she realized what she was doing.
For a month now she's been taking steps alone, but every time she has become aware of her motion she gets scared and plops. Now however, she giggles. :)
She's become master of her domain and very curious. We've had to baby proof the entire main level now. And she routinely attempts the stairs with speed and vigor... Though going down is a bit funny to watch as she just doesn't trust that her foot is ever going to hit ground under her.
She likes to stand on her feet and bend over at the waste, put her hands on the floor and look through her legs backwards.
She can, of course, fly around the house on her knees. And we play chase in a crawl often, which elicits great giggles and huffing from her as she makes her escape!
She can now stand up on her own, without having to pull herself up. This started just this week (2nd week of Sept). She is 10 months, three weeks.
Lily has also started to sign back to us to communicate. Up until now she has only responded to our signs either positively, negatively, or indifferent. But now she is actively signing back. We are learning her versions of the signs very quickly.
She really loves her little tikes trike! She rids her motorcycle all over the house and makes sound effects. It's hilarious.
She also has a favorite book - Animals!! It's a padded, board book with lots of images of baby animals and she loves it! She reads it to us..
We are continuing her Eng and French and Sign and she is starting to respond to words very well. Some words she understands and recognizes better in Eng and some in Fre; I sign at every opp I get and so does Russ and Sav and she's showing good recognition and response.
She is able to point at a picture of Papa (or video) on my laptop and say either Hi Papa, Bye Papa, or sometimes just giggles. And this week I added a picture of my mom so now she is recognizing Grandma too... She recognizes herself easily and says eeeee (maybe an early version of Lily?) And I think we may have a grandma attempt - though it comes out "muh-guh".
Yesterday we started to learn to read the word BAP.
Look for an entry entitled to BAP for more explanation.
Russ is working all the time and I am endeavoring to establish music opps for him every spare moment I get. He was interviewed by a music magazine (see link below) and we are working on developing the idea of our "non-label" into a workable venture.
Lots more to tell, but I have little fingers trying to take over the keypad! This will have to wait until midnight or so...

First tooth appeared the first week of June, second tooth came two weeks later, third tooth started June 28.
Lily took her first, unassisted steps on June 25th. She was standing at her saucer and London got her attention, so she let go and stood there for a moment and when London moved Lils decided she wanted to go with her so she took two steps before she realized what she'd done and then face planted.
Lily started crawling recently and has achieved good speed and mobility in the last 2 weeks.
Today, July 1, she stood up on her own for the first time and remained standing for a good few moments before reaching for me. She's now done the same move 5 times in the last 5 minutes.
Mama and Papa are in her regular vocab, as is BAHBAH or BUBHb (when she wants something) and she's signing "want/give" and starting to sign for "eat".
Lily is 8 months and three weeks this Thursday.
New teeth routine: Fussy night, nursing non-stop, next day tongue exploration.
Lily is walking all over with two handed assistance and today she is doing very well with just one hand being held. She's walking around the perimeter of her saucer and other furniture items. And she just recently developed wings that she flaps rather seriously when she feels like it.. We're convinced she will fly soon.

Well, this afternoon, while on the phone with Russ, Lily decided to start crawling and not just up on her toes, knees drug forward, and then into a roll. She's still frustrated because walking is so much faster but she can't figure out how to stand up on her own just yet so I guess she decided crawling will do for the moment.
She's pulling herself up on her saucer, the table, her aquarium, her crib, and legs. She wants to walk everywhere, and if you won't help her she will walk with the help of whatever she can hold on to. She can stand on her own for a few seconds and really enjoys her new found mobility.
When she stands up at her crib (inside), she will hold on with one hand and then let go and smile triumphantly until she starts to wobble, at which point her face shows a bit of confusion and then she'll either grab the side of the crib to steady herself or she'll plop on her butt.
She's scooting along on her little trike, sits up on her own, and today her second tooth came through. She got her first tooth (bottom, right) the first week of June and has been working on this one for the last two weeks. I will write more later on her pattern of cutting teeth for future reference.
She loves her drum, eats ice and my nose, fake sneezes in response to your real one, and sticks her tongue out to taste the wind.
She's a kick and is growing so well. I will try to write more...

Formerly known as our anniversary...
Cecily's Father's Day gift came a day early -
Saturday morning...
Lily is in bed with us. Shock.
She is awake, we're not. Bigger shock.
She's poking Russ and playing with his hair while keeping something touching me.
Such is the morning routine when we're both home upon her greeting the day. This morning, however, she decided to surprise us both.
We have been speaking mumum and papapa/dadada to her for oh, 8 months or so... She started in with the mumumum at around 4 months and uses it very well... However, she has not said so much as a pah or dah, until today.
It's Sat, June 14th, 8am. She is waking us up. A smile from me.. giggles. Now look at dad.. he awake? A smile from dad... "papa".
Russ opens his eyes.
A quizzical look on his face; she has his attention.
He asks me if he heard her correctly to which I can only reply that I don't really know, I haven't heard it before, but it sounds like it..
Lily rolls over, face to face with me. "Mama", says a little grin and squinty eyes. And these words I know, very well. :)
Then, as if she sensed Russ's anticipation, she rolled back over to him, face to face, and says "Papa" again. Big smile of satisfaction washing over both hers and Daddy's face.
"Papa..."
"I guess I will be Papa."
"That ok with you?", I ask.
"Yes." With a warm smile.. "That's what she wants me to be, then I'm Papa."
Happy Fathers Day, a day early.
